Reportedly, Indonesia's major steelmaker Krakatau Steel is going to establish a new plant in order to produce hot strip in 2013and it expects to invest US$400 million in the said project.
The official of Krakatau Steel said the company is doing a feasibility study and the land acquisition will be finished within this year, and the new mill is expected to start operation in 2015, when the total rolling capacity would reach 4.25MTPA.
The new mill will reheat and roll slab steel into hot rolled coils and plates, which would mostly go to Indonesia's domestic markets for ship buildings, pipes, general structures and other applications.
